Mahwah Superintendent Talks Township Schools on MCN TV Show

Schoen discusses new testing coming to the district, full-day kindergarten, and more in the interview.

Making sure Mahwah stays “ahead of the curve” is one of the most important aspects of her job, Mahwah School District Superintendent Lauren Schoen said in an interview with Mahwah Community News.

MCN, the township’s cable news network, recently posted to Facebook and YouTube its 32-minute interview with Schoen as part of its “MCN Meets” interview series.

During the interview, Schoen talks about a variety of topics including giving her own background information, why she chose to come to Mahwah schools, commenting on her relationship to the Board of Education, her vision moving forward for the district, and feelings on new testing procedures coming to Mahwah.

She also talks about some of the upcoming initiatives in Mahwah, like starting Full Day Kindergarten, calling snow days, and what she feels are the biggest challenges facing Mahwah schools moving forward.

Schoen came to the district in July as its first permanent Superintendent since Charles Montesano retired in 2011.
