Mahwah Boys Soccer Team Seeks State Title [Reader Photos]

The Group 2 state championship game is Monday afternoon

The Mahwah Boys Soccer Team is one game away from a state title.

Last week, the team got past two viable opponents – Kittatinny, which the T-Birds beat 3-1 in the quarterfinal game, and Lakeland, which the team beat 2-1 in overtime in the semifinals last Thursday.

Mahwah, seeded #2 in the Group 2 State Tournament Championship, will take on the Number 4 seed, Newton, is the finals at home Monday at 2 p.m.

According to nj.com, Mahwah is going into the final game with a 17-1 record, Newton with a 20-4 record.

Last week, Thunderbirds coach Vince Vespe said he felt the team was strong, and could win the whole tournament.
