Pool Plans BBQ, Amped Up Summer Schedule

Barbeque Friday is open to members and non-members. And, staffers say they are working to fill out a full events calendar for next season.

Staffers at the Mahwah Municipal Pool say they are looking to add more to the pool’s activities line-up during the rest of the summer, a move that they say will carry over into a busier, more organized events calendar for the 2014 pool season.

Staffers say they “want people to be excited,” about coming to the pool, and want to create more reasons for people to want to spend the day or an afternoon there.

They’ve already started implementing some new activities – every Tuesday at 2 p.m., the pool hosts a craft corner for kids, and the library runs story time for kids at the pool each Thursday.

The staff is also planning a community barbeque summer party next Friday as a way to celebrate current members, and invite new ones to check out the pool.

The BBQ will feature in and out-of-water games and competitions for the whole family, and have all of the grills on the pool property ready for cooking. Visitors are welcome to bring any food they want to grill, and can set up family picnics around the pool area, staffers said.

And, they say the pool is already working on planning similar events for next year, like hosting family-friendly music hours and sending out pre-planned event calendars so visitors can schedule event visits to the pool in advance.

The barbeque is happening next Friday, August 9, from 3 to 8 p.m., and is open to both members and non-members.
