Kuiken Brothers Celebrates a Successful Product Expo in Conjunction with its 100-Year Anniversary

1,000 builders, architects and interior designers from New Jersey and New York learn about new building products and techniques at Kuiken Brothers 2012 Product Expo.

Kuiken Brothers Company Inc., a leading supplier of residential and commercial building materials, held its 2012 Product Expo and 100th Anniversary Celebration on November 8, 2012, in Mahwah, New Jersey.

Despite temperatures in the 30s, wind, rain and snow, more than 1,000 builders, architects, and interior designers explored the latest building materials and installation techniques during live building clinics. Seventy-six vendors and building experts provided detailed information on products, services and building techniques.

"We were extremely pleased with the turnout, especially with the latest storm," said Douglas R. Kuiken, Kuiken Brothers' president. "The New Jersey and New York building communities have a tough challenge ahead of them with the recent destruction caused by Hurricane Sandy, the on- and off- again lack of power, and the frustrating, long gas lines. This year's Product Expo gave our new and existing customers an outlet for networking, learning about new product lines and techniques, and facing the coming challenges with hope, knowledge and inspiration. It was also a way for us to say thank you."

"I love the construction business," said Paul Braunius, Braunius Construction, of Midland Park, New Jersey. "I'm a second-generation contractor and Kuiken Brothers is a fourth-generation building supplier. At the Kuiken Brothers Product Expo, you can talk to other building professionals about the business of building. You talk with product manufacturers and product installers. Kuiken Brothers' suppliers offered a phenomenal amount of products. We saw what's new and kept abreast of new, cutting-edge products and processes. You know Kuiken Brothers stands behind what it sells."

The live building clinics included Waterproof Doors, sponsored by Therma-Tru & Huber Engineered Woods; Window Installation & Interior Trim with KB Classical Moulding, sponsored by Andersen Windows & Doors and Kuiken Brothers KB Classical Moulding; Long Lasting Decks, sponsored by Boise Cascade & Trex Transcend; and Custom Kitchens, sponsored by Merillat Kitchens & Kuiken Brothers Kitchen & Bath.

There were also four AIA (American Institute of Architects) accredited seminars. They included Introduction to Wood I-Joists and Laminated Veneer Lumber; Windows in Sustainable Design; Wood Acetylation-Offering a Non-Toxic Path to Preserve Wood; and Commercial Building Design --Comfortable Environments through Sustainable Design.

The major sponsors of the event were Andersen Windows & Doors and Boise Cascade, Engineered Wood Products.
