Where Does The Time Go?

Who is DSM? Simple. We are a full-service advertising, marketing and public relations agency who love what we do.

It seems like just the other day I was gearing up for summer. The school year was wrapping up, I was getting my son ready to start summer camp, planning a summer vacation and trips to the beach and now as I sit down to write my first blog for The DSM Group, I can’t believe it’s the last official day of summer. The smell of autumn is already in the air and before we know it Trick or Treating will be upon us (hopefully minus the freak snow storm we had last year) and then the holidays.

So with time flying by, I was recalling often being told by other parents how they couldn’t believe how quickly their children were growing or had grown up and now as a parent myself I find myself thinking the same thing. My son is now seven and I remember bringing him home from the hospital like it was yesterday. He’s now his own person with friends, play dates, on soccer and baseball teams and swimming like a fish. How did this happen? At this rate, in a blink of an eye he’ll be going for his driver’s license, dating and I’ll be losing lots of sleep! I’m so not ready for that. All joking aside, my son is the best thing that’s ever happened to me and it’s a blast watching him grow up. I’m amazed at how much he knows and he never ceases to amaze me. Every day is a new adventure and I’m loving every minute of it. If you are a parent reading this, I’m sure you will agree.

On the flip side, my son growing up has allowed me to get my career going again. I worked full time before I had my son and then stayed home for his first five years. As soon as he started full days at school I knew it was time for me to start my career search. I heard the DSM Group was looking for someone part time and I jumped at the chance. And speaking of time flying by, it will soon be two years for me at DSM. How crazy is that!

She spent more than a decade working in New York City at Universal Music handling and launching many of its top new releases before deciding that she wanted to start a family and pursue a new career closer to home.

When she heard that her old neighbor, Darren, was hiring, she jumped at the chance to start anew and learn the ins-and-outs of the advertising & public relations industries. Welcome aboard, Dana, and enjoy the ride!

In 1993, after graduating from The Catholic University of America, Dana began her career at PolyGram Records (which later became Universal Music) as a new release coordinator. After much blood, sweat and tears she was promoted to manager of new release production and supervised the department. So, you may ask, what’s a girl from the music business doing in advertising? Why living the dream, of course! After a 6-year hiatus to do the mom thing, her next goal was to start an exciting new career mere minutes from home. Bye-bye, arduous commutes to NYC! And what better place than The DSM Group to start anew? Who says that dreams don’t come true? When she’s not exercising, watching SpongeBob with her 6-year-old son or enjoying good food and vino with her husband like any good Mediterranean, you can find her hard at work here at The DSM Group.
