March For Babies In Mahwah Sunday

Charity expects up to 1,000 people at walk to raise funds for babies born prematurely or with birth defects

WHAT: March for Babies is the flagship fundraising event for March of Dimes. The dollars raised support community programs, education and research which promote healthy pregnancies and healthy babies for all families.

March for Babies® is a fun-filled and rewarding experience. Participants enjoy refreshments and warm-up exercises before the official start of the walk. The Darlington Park March for Babies, route is 5 miles long and takes place at the picturesque Darlington Park, in Mahwah, NJ. All walkers are greeted at the finish line with cheers and music to celebrate their great “Feet” for Healthier Babies.

GOALS: For 2012, we are bigger and better than ever! We anticipate over 800-1,000 participants from all over Bergen County to walk towards giving every baby a healthy start. In 2011, the March of Dimes team of walkers, volunteers and corporate sponsors raised over $200,000 locally and over $2.8 million across the State of New Jersey..

WHO: The key to the success of March for Babies® is team work. Led by our 2012 Chairperson, Evan Miller, Campus Operating Officer at Berkeley College, large and small corporations, unions, hospitals, organizations, families, and schools recruit employees, students or family members to walk together as teams. 

HOW: Walkers collect donations using e-mails, letter writing or in person from co-workers, family and friends. Corporate and Local Businesses partner to become part of the experience that drives the community.

WHY: March of Dimes March for Babies® supports medical research, public and professional education, community programs and advocacy efforts. Funds raised in New Jersey are utilized here.

THEME: Because when you “WALK” in March for Babies you are helping to save ALL babies and prevent premature birth and birth defects in Sussex County.
