Stag Hill Tire Clean-Up This Weekend

'Tired of Tires' is also a competition with a free Sharp TV at stake.

The Mahwah Environmental Volunteers Organization is planning its biggest trash pick-up of the year – a Tired of Tires trash clean up on Stag Hill happening this Saturday.

The volunteer organization is sending out the call for both members of the community who have volunteered with MEVO before, and newcomers to the clean-up circuit to volunteer to help clean tires and other dumped debris and litter from the area.

And, to sweeten the deal for volunteers, MEVO is turning the clean up into a competition with Sharp TVs as the prizes.

MEVO Summer Crew Member Katherine Hansen wrote to Patch to explain the details of the clean up contest:

People will enter the contest as groups, groups of five people or less will pay $25 to enter, groups of six to nine people will pay $50 to enter, groups of 10 people or more will pay $75 to enter and walk-ons can enter for free. For each of the three group sizes, the team that collects the most trash will win a TV donated by Sharp Electronics.

Hansen said the clean up is the latest in a series the group has held at Stag Hill this year.

“So far this year MEVO has done four trash clean ups at Stag Hill, including one on [May 29] where volunteers from KMPG came and over 30 people attended,” she said. “We are trying to make this event as big as possible, hoping to have between 75 and 100 people attend.”

The Tired of Tires clean up is happening from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. this Saturday. Sign up, or get more information, by calling (201) 316-7606 or emailing mevovolunteers@mevoearth.org.
