Winter's Park Committee Sells Pavers to Reach Playground Goal

Locals can help fundraise and leave their mark on the future park.

Mahwah residents and businesses can become a permanent part of a park that a group of volunteers says is being “revitalized for a new generation.”

The Winter’s Park Playground Committee has been fundraising for over a year to help pay for a renovation of the park. After a string of successful grant applications and fundraisers, the group is now selling pavers that they say will allow locals to become a part of the park.

Residents and businesses can sponsor a paving stone that will become part of the entrance to the playground.

Pavers can be purchased for the following donation amounts:

  • 8x4 text and graphic - $75
  • 8x8 text only - $150
  • 8x8 text and graphic - $175

“This fundraiser is a great way to help to continue to fund the project and allows residents to be a permanent part of the initiative,” Committee Chair Kim Bolan said.

“Currently, the entrance to the playground is on the side and difficult to get to. These pavers will be placed at the new front entrance of the playground area at Winter's Park making it a natural, welcoming entrance.”

According to Bolan, the park can eventually expect an array of different types of pavers.

“Many people have put their family name on their bricks, or remembered a loved one who has passed away. Others have been creative and included a fun note like ‘Enjoy your day at the park!’ With the holidays coming, they also make a great gift idea. We also encourage local groups and organizations to get a paver to represent their organization.”

So far, the Committee has raised about $50K toward building the new playground, and the town received a matching $132K grant from the county to help fund the renovation.

Pavers can be purchased online, and the fundraiser will continue through the end of the year.
