Mahwah Snow Mounds to be Cleared, Officials Say

Schools will again be closed Friday.

Much of Mahwah will remain closed on Friday, as officials say crews will be out clearing the more than a foot of snow that fell on the township Thursday.

“People will be seeing a lot of large snow piles at places like the sides of roadways and intersections,” Mayor Bill Laforet said Thursday night.

“There was no other choice of where to put the snow while it was being cleared, but we are asking people to be patient. We have a plan that will be in place through Saturday to knock down the snow piles remaining around the township.”

Laforet also advised residents to be cautious when driving Friday morning in a Nixle alert sent out to residents Thursday night.

The Mahwah school district and township library also announced they would both be closed Friday.
