This Week: Mahwah Chamber Super Community Spirit Showcase

Event featuring football and local non-profits is sanctioned by the NY-NJ Super Bowl Host Committee.

As the Broncos and Seahawks are prepping to face off in the Super Bowl, Mahwah is getting ready for a pre-game event this week that has been sanctioned by the NY/NJ Super Bowl Host Committee.

The Mahwah Regional Chamber of Commerce is hosting its "Super Community Spirit Showcase" Wednesday night from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Sheraton Crossroads.

The event is set to feature 100  local non-profits touting the work they do in the community. Attendees will be able to vote for their favorite charity, and the one that gets the most votes by the end of the night will take home the proceeds from the event as a donation.

And, because the event is about the Super Bowl, happening at MetLife Stadium on Feb. 2, three NFL players will be on hand Wednesday giving out autographs, photos, and talks on teamwork.

MRCC leadership has said they hope the event will be a way for the community to come together and support its non-profit organizations.

"It’s basically going to be a big party with a theme of teamwork,” Chamber President Martha Harvey, of Sharp Electronics, told Patch at a kickoff event.

“Non-profits don’t operate without a team of volunteers. Businesses don’t operate without a team of employees. And we, as a Chamber, couldn’t operate without all of our members working as a team toward the same initiatives.”

Admission $25 online, $30 at door, $10 students with ID. Tickets can be pre-purchased on the MRCC website.
