Two Ceremonies will Mark 9/11 Anniversary

Mahwah will host one Wednesday, and the county will host one over the weekend.

It’s shaping up to be a busy week in Mahwah. Here’s a look at some of the stories you can expect to see on Patch this week. Have an idea for another story you’d like to see? Email it to Jessica.mazzola@patch.com.  

Wednesday marks the twelfth anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks. Mahwah will hold a September 11 remembrance ceremony this week, and the county is hosting on over the weekend. See details below for both ceremonies:

Mahwah

This year’s event will happen on Wednesday, September 11 at 7 p.m. The annual event will happen near the train station museum, across the street from Winter’s Pond. It will include remarks from township officials, and participation from local performance groups and other organizations.

Bergen County

The county announced last week it will host a 9/11 memorial ceremony on Sunday, September 15 at 3 p.m. at Overpeck Park in Leonia. The event will be held at the Bergen County 9/11 Monument site.

Bergen County residents, 9/11 families and survivors as well as military families are invited to join elected officials and local clergy. 

The program will include the reading of the names of Bergen County residents who died on September11, 2001, as well as the names of military personnel from Bergen County who died in the war on terrorism since 9/11.
