Ford was not expected to survive after being hit by car but he's making full recovery.
Ford is one lucky pooch. Just a few months ago the brown and white pit bull was brought to the Bergen County Animal Shelter in bad shape — partially frozen, with a broken hip and pelvis. Thanks to much love and care he's making a full recovery and will soon be eligible for adoption. Ford had been found clinging to life on Route 280 in late January near Kearny by a state police officer. It's believed he had been hit by a car, says Deborah Yankow of the Bergen County Animal Shelter in Teterboro. "We weren't sure he was going to make it," says Yankow. The young dog, which the shelter named Ford, was very sick and couldn't even walk. The shelter's medical staff began caring for him he has turned out to be a great dog, she says. The shelter …

Bergen County Animal Shelter hosts giving weekend where adopters can make a donation in any amount in exchange for a forever pet.
The Bergen County Animal Shelter in Teterboro is hosting its special giving weekend Jan. 5 and Jan. 6 where adopters can make a donation in any amount for a pet to take home. The special adoption event began Friday and continues Saturday and Sunday. Hours are from 1 to 5 p.m. Each week Patch highlights the featured pets of the week.
