Representatives from the Bergen County Police Chiefs Association say a proposed merger of the county police and the sheriff's department could lead to higher costs and a reduced level of service. With just 24 hours notice, five police chiefs sat down with members of the Freeholders' Law and Public Safety Committee Wednesday to answer questions and read into the record their position on the potential merger. It is very apparent that the Chief of Police of Mahwah does not have idea of how many county parks there are in Mahwah. He stated that there is a state college in town, which he correct........but he stated there were only TWO county parks ?
