The Shannon Rose The Irish restaurant and pub is starting the celebration early, with St. Paddyfest beginning Thursday. Local Irish band The Connolly brothers will be performing from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, and be accompanied by drink specials. Notice the spotlights shining over Mahwah Wednesday night? They were coming from Boom Burger, a new Route 17 restaurant planning its grand opening this Thursday, Friday and Saturday. According to the restaurant’s Facebook page, the Grand Opening will be a three-day long celebration starting Thursday night. According to Boom Burger owner Peter Karounos, the new place combines aspects of a restaurant, a bar, a nightclub, and a phrase he has trademarked called “social dining.” The term, he said, refers to the energy of an establishment. A new burger joint that combines a sleek atmosphere with affordable burgers is set to open in Mahwah next month. According to Boom Burger owner Peter Karounos, the new place combines aspects of a restaurant, a bar, a nightclub, and a phrase he has trademarked called “social dining.” “My parents owned a diner so I grew up in the restaurant business,” Karounos said. “I work in nightclub development…so I combined my backgrounds when [coming up with the concept] for Boom – it’s got the food, the design, the atmosphere and the vibe.” “Social Dining,” he said, refers to the energy of an establishment.
