Stop by Wednesday or Saturday for giveaways, a glitter tattoo artist and more
Loyal Dairy Queen customers will be treated to sweet treats this week at the shop’s annual Customer Appreciation celebration. According to Mahwah DQ owner Janette Dilascio, Dairy Queens across the country will be participating in the annual event either this Wednesday or Saturday. The Mahwah store is doing it both days. “I have a lot of customers who only come during the week because they work here, and a lot who only come on the weekends because they work during the week. I wanted to make sure everyone could enjoy it.” So, all day Wednesday and all day Saturday, everything on the menu is half price. The customer appreciation days also include giveaways for kids, balloons and a glitter tattoo artist who will be in the shop from 7-9 p.m. …

FD is asking all gift cards be dropped off at the Mahwah Dairy Queen; residents can pick up free ice cream for donating
Anyone wishing to donate gift cards to the Mahwah family who lost its house in a fire Wednesday night can now drop them off at the Dairy Queen in the A&P shopping center on Franklin Turnpike. The Mahwah Fire Department, which has been organizing collections for the family since the fire, is requesting all donations now be dropped off at the Dairy Queen. DQ owner Janette Dilascio, who said the she knows the members of the Mann family as customers and “great people,” said she was happy to help. DQ is offering anyone who drops off a donation free ice cream. Residents from across the township enjoyed free ice cream, and the chance to check out Mahwah's fire trucks, at a fundraiser at Dairy Queen Wednesday that benefited Fire Company 1. The FD is set for round 2 of the fundraiser next Wednesday at DQ from 6 - 9 p.m. Firefighters will be selling Super 50/50 raffle tickets and promoting their upcoming Pasta Night fundraiser, which happens in October. Anyone who purchases a $5 raffle ticket will get a free scoop of ice cream from DQ. Mahwah Fire Department's Company 1 is planning two family fundraisers that firefighters say can both introduce residents to the township’s FD and support the volunteer organization. This Wednesday, Sept. 12, and next Wednesday, Sept. 19, the Dairy Queen in the A&P Shopping Center will host the Company 1 fundraiser. “DQ is in Company 1’s [coverage] area, and they have always been a big supporter of ours,” firefighter Tom Murphy said. Bad weather cancels scoops event, but raffle tickets are still available for sale
Mahwah Fire Company 2 has canceled a scheduled event Wednesday night due to the weather. Firefighters were set to sell raffle tickets to win two season tickets to see the NY Giants at the Mahwah Dairy Queen Wednesday night. Firefighters say the event was canceled due to the storms, downed power lines and power outages Wednesday. They said they hope to reschedule the event before the raffle ticket drawing, set to happen July 26. Raffle tickets are $10, and the season tickets are worth about $3,000, firefighters say. The money they raise from ticket sales will be used to fund the department’s annual Santa Detail ride through Mahwah, to furnish the interior of the firehouse, for a yearly installation dinner for new members, and a memorial …
