Tom Coughlin, Mark Herzlich and Chris Snee are scheduled to appear at a benefit for Mahwah grad Frank Chamberlin.
A group of New York Giants will be in the area next month to rally for a fellow NFL player battling brain cancer. Tom Coughlin, Head Coach of the NY Giants and Big Blue players Mark Herzlich and Chris Snee will be at the Wyckoff Family YMCA on Wednesday, June 5. The three will be part of a VIP “Meet and Greet,” happening from 5:30-6:45 p.m. Proceeds from the event will benefit Frank Chamberlin and his family. Frank is a Mahwah High School graduate, Wyckoff resident, and former NFL player who was diagnosed with an anaplastic astrocytoma, a rare form of brain cancer, last year. According to the release from the Y, the Meet and Greet will feature an "intimate reception," and photo ops with Tom, Mark, Chris, and other NY Giants players. …

A group working to raise $200,000 for a local man fighting a rare form of brain cancer says it is about halfway to its fundraising goal, and that an upcoming event should help add to the growing effort. On March 20, Fight for Frank – a group set up to help Mahwah High School grad Frank Chamberlin and his family – will host a dinner and auction fundraiser at the Venetian in Garfield. Frank Chamberlin, who played for Mahwah in the 90's and the NFL in the 2000's, recently received a surprise gift from the current Thunderbird team
According to Gwenn Hendrick, a former Mahwah resident whose son, Frank Chamberlin played football for Mahwah High School, Boston College, and in the NFL for the Tennessee Titans, Cincinnati Bengals and Houston Texans, she didn’t know her son was still inspiring Mahwah athletes. “I didn’t know this until this past season, when I was at a Mahwah High School game and I went inside the gym. But, they have one of Frank’s jerseys hanging up in the hallway,” Hendrick said. “I was surprised to see that.” Before her son’s cancer diagnosis last year, Hendrick said she and her family didn’t realize the impact Frank’s success story continues to have on Mahwah athletes. Now, a Mahwah restaurant is giving residents a way to help. ‘Fight for Frank’ was set up to help Frank Chamberlin, who friends say was the picture of fitness and health when he was diagnosed with a severe form of brain cancer earlier this year. Chamberlin, who works at a financial services firm, played football at Mahwah High School, and upon his 1996 graduation went on to play for Boston College, and for five years in the NFL – for the Tennessee Titans, Cincinnati Bengals and Houston Texans.
