The school’s Community Problem Solvers collected nominations from residents of people who make a difference in town. On Monday, the group is set to announce the winners during a public ceremony.

A group of Mahwah high schoolers who have spent the last year working to make the community a kinder place is hosting a ceremony Monday that will honor 25 township residents it says are inspiring. Mahwah High School’s Community Problem Solvers, a team of about a dozen students that has spent the year working to solve problems they identify in the community, presenting their solutions at regional and state competitions, and implementing the solutions, says the award ceremony is meant to promote good character amongst Mahwah kids, and spread happiness and kindness through the community. Mahwah Baseball Coach Celebrates 100th Win

Coach Jeff Remo says the moment was made even more special by his son, a player who secured Wednesday night’s win for the team

For Mahwah Varsity Baseball Coach Jeff Remo, every win is important. This Wednesday, his team not only celebrated a game victory against Fort Lee, but a milestone in their coach’s career. The 13-1 win against the Bridgemen marked Remo’s 100th career win as a baseball coach. Remo also recorded over 100 wins with the Mahwah Softball team when he coached that. “I don’t think you go into coaching with a specific goal of wanting to win a certain number of games,” he told Patch Thursday. “But, when you look back [at your coaching career], it’s definitely an accomplishment.” His 100th win was a family affair. Remo’s son, sophomore Ryan, was the closing pitcher during the Fort Lee game. “My son was the winning pitcher, that made it even more neat…

The Community Problem Solvers are setting up a ceremony this May that will recognize the contributions of people who make a difference in Mahwah

A group of Mahwah High School students is asking the community to help them identify people in Mahwah who can be considered “Everyday Heroes,” and is planning the details for a ceremony that will honor their contributions to the township. The Community Problem Solvers, a group of a dozen high schoolers who recently came in second place at their state tournament, spend the school year identifying local problems, brainstorming ways to solve them, and implementing some of their solutions. This year, the group started off by trying to tackle bullying in Mahwah schools.
