UPDATE: Suspects Followed Gas Company Employee Before Attack, Robbery

Police are retracing the steps of four men in a gold Nissan who they believe followed a victim Tuesday and then waited for him at a headquarters in Mahwah where they later beat him up and robbed him

Police investigating a beating and robbery outside a Mahwah company Tuesday night now believe four suspects followed their victim to several places before waiting for him in a Route 17 building, punching him several times in the face, and stealing $70,000 in cash from him. According to Chief Jim Batelli, police are investigating forensic evidence and surveillance video in an attempt to retrace the steps of masked men in a gold Nissan Altima who apparently chose their victim very carefully. The victim is a 54-year-old employee of Paks Fast Service, which owns 24 gas and service stations in North Jersey, police said. Robbers Punch Victim in the Face, Steal $70K

Cops are searching for up to four men who allegedly stole cash from a man delivering it to a Mahwah business

Police are looking for masked men who beat up an employee walking into a Mahwah business Tuesday evening and stole about $70,000 in cash he was carrying, Chief Jim Batelli said Tuesday night. Police are reviewing surveillance tapes from outside the Marron professional building on Route 17 South in Mahwah to help identify and locate up to four men who were involved in the unarmed robbery at about 5 p.m. Tuesday, Batelli said. According to police, a 54-year-old employee of one of the companies in the building was walking from his car to the rear entrance of the building carrying a bag with about $70,000 in cash inside it. Armed Robber Chose Victim Intentionally, Police Say

Police are still investigating robbery at a Ramapo Brae condo unit last week

Police now believe the suspect in a residential robbery in the Ramapo Brae condo units last week intentionally chose the home he robbed. “We believe this was a target specific incident,” Mahwah Police Chief James Batelli said Monday. “While alarming, the location was not selected at random.” Friday afternoon, a Brae resident who came home during her lunch break found an intruder rummaging through her room who pointed a gun at her, Batelli said last week. According to police, an interview with the resident helped them deduce that his target was intentional. Last week, police said the woman claimed she did not know the man who broke into her home.
