Route 17 in the two towns was named a ‘Strong Retail Corridor' in Northern NJ

The Mahwah-Ramsey stretch of Route 17 is one of the strongest retail corridors in Northern and Central NJ, according to an analysis of the state’s retail real estate market released by the Goldstein Group Monday. Twice a year, the real estate brokerage firm surveys 22 retail corridors in Northern and Central New Jersey, which amounts to over 98 million square feet of retail space. Tractor Trailer Loses Axle, Backs Up Traffic for Miles

Police warn drivers should avoid Route 17 for several hours

A tractor trailer that lost an axle while driving on the border of N.Y. and N.J. shut the right lane and shoulder of Route 287 North in Mahwah, and caused massive back-ups on Route 17 North in Mahwah and Ramsey Wednesday evening, police said. At about 4:10 p.m., an oversized tractor trailer lost all of its wheels on the right side, police said. Traffic on Route 17 North backed up about three miles or more, to at least the Franklin Turnpike exit in Ramsey. Mahwah Police sent out a Nixle alert to residents at about 5:30 p.m. Wednesday saying drivers should expect extensive delays on Route 17 North for one to two hours, and avoid the area if possible. I can't think of any local business that would suffer because of the mall .I think most businesses in Mahwah will do very well during the construction. I may be wrong but Mahwah is mostly food joints, auto parts,construction/landscaping supply, liquor stores, pharmacy, dump trucks, gas stations and car dealers. I believe the construction of the mall would be a huge shot in the arm for local business.   more ›
