IMAGES: Mahwah Commemorates 12 Wars in New Memorial Etchings

Monday, Mahwah dedicated the 12 stones in its new Veterans Park memorial to all veterans past, present, and future.

The images etched on the stones depict aspects of the following 12 wars:

• American Revolution
• War of 1812
• Spanish American War
• Mexican American War
• Civil War
• World War I
• World War II
• Korean War
• Vietnam War
• Persian Gulf War
• Iraq War
• War on Terror

All of the plaques were paid for through resident and local business donations.

Organizers say the memorial is the second of a three-part renovation of the park. The final phase, which will be unveiled on Memorial Day, will add flags for each arm of the armed services to the “Circle of Freedom.” The township Beautification Committee is currently accepting donations for the final phase of the project.
